Will This be the Next Housing Bubble?

By | June 22, 2019

What is it going to take for every appraiser to comment on Town Hall concerning the proposed Guidance Document on hybrid appraisals?

Even if you have no intentions of ever completing a hybrid appraisal, it is important for you to place a comment on Town Hall concerning the document and these questionable products. If appraisers are not willing to step up and take a stand against actions that are contributing to the next housing crash, who will?

If you have seen any of the samples floating around on the blogs and forums, you realize very quickly, these products are not credible and the fees associated with them are well below what is reasonable for the liability of the appraiser. It is time to take a stand, not only for consumer protection, but for the profession that provides for your family.  The next housing crash will be a result of actions like this and honestly, we have never fully recovered from the last one.

What is it going to take for appraisers to step up?

The comment period ends on June 26th so there are only 2 days left.

Don’t wait, click here to comment now!

Comments are welcome from those not in Virginia as well!

Will Your VaCAP Membership Expire?

Membership to VaCAP renews each June and remains at $84 per year.  We represent Virginia appraisers as one of the leading coalitions within the Network of State Appraisal Organizations, currently 31 members strong. We are members of the Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council, attend meetings of the Association of Appraiser Regulatory Officials and attend State Appraisal Board Meetings. We initiate and lobby for legislative action when necessary and communicate with State and Federal Representatives on relevant issues concerning the profession.

Perhaps the most noticed benefit of VaCAP is our communication. We regularly send out information to our members and others in our database on issues important to the profession. We  continue to update our Facebook page, LinkedIn page and have recently established a Twitter account. Our communications have been called “cutting edge and extremely timely” by several other appraisal organizations. Although our communications are copywritten, we encourage everyone to share, just give VaCAP credit please.

Once again, membership can be renewed online from our website. We have streamlined the application and provided a direct link for payment.
