There is a story going viral on social media concerning a cover up  between the appraisal institute, REVVA and appraisal management companies. If you are on any of the appraisal forum or appraisal groups, we are positive you have seen the articles and video already. The story initially broke with a New York Times article, “Wildly Inappropriate Behavior”: Real Estate Group is accused of Cover- UP. There is a lot of disgust, and overall sickening within the comments around the story. There are a few “I told you so’s” as well.

VaAP is sharing the Appraiserblogs article (with permission) as we believe every appraiser, whether associated with the Appraisal Institute, REVAA or any appraisal management company or not, should be aware of the accusations in this developing story.  The Appraiserblogs article contains links to various sources including the New York Times article and a press release by Cindy Chance.  We encourage each of you to take the time to read the article and related links to make yourself aware of the situation as this plays out.
