A Sad and Unfortunate Event

By | March 26, 2019

As appraisers, we are at risk for dangers.  Be it unsafe property conditions or our exposure to others that are watching…

A recent robbery attempt in Richmond, VA resulted in injuries of two Habitat for Humanity employees. VaCAP encourages you to be aware of your surroundings when out in the field, lock the door behind you when entering a vacant house.  This will help prevent being taken off guard by an intruder, even if just a nosy neighbor. While an encounter is unlikely, it takes much less time to lock the door than to talk to someone trying to be nosy or answer questions by someone looking to rent the house, etc. – or an even worse situation. Having the agent meet you will also help in deterring a negative situation, but not always.
