Why Do it Alone?

By | June 3, 2019

There is strength in numbers.

We believe this is an accurate statement. Richard Hagar, SRA recently wrote an article titled ” Come Together” that VaCAP was been given permission to redistribute. The article discusses the benefits of working in a large firm, co-op office and communicating with other appraisers. Belonging to professional organizations such as VaCAP is also a key discussion topic.

VaCAP knows first hand the power of numbers. Back in 2017 when VaCAP members initiated 30 day payment requirements for AMCs at the General Assembly, during the public comment section of the House Committee meeting when 14 appraisers stood up and formed a line to speak in favor of the bill, the  Committee Chair, asked who was against the bill and who was in favor. Only two individuals actually spoke. The number of people in line to speak in favor spoke volumes to the representatives.  As you know that bill passed unanimously and is now part of Virginia Statute.

The article by Richard Hagar closes with a reference to the Beatles song Come Together.

VaCAP Membership Renewal Time

Membership to VaCAP renews each June and remains at $84 per year.  We represent Virginia appraisers as one of the leading coalitions within the Network of State Appraisal Organizations, currently 31 members strong. We are members of the Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council, attend meetings of the Association of Appraiser Regulatory Officials and attend State Appraisal Board Meetings. We initiate and lobby for legislative actions when necessary and communicate with State and Federal Representative on relevant issues concerning the profession.

Perhaps the most noticed benefit of VaCAP is our communication. We regularly send out information to our members and others in our database on issues important to the profession. We  continue to update our Facebook page, LinkedIn page and have recently established a Twitter account. Our communications have been called “cutting edge and extremely timely” by several other appraisal organizations. Although our communications are copywritten, we encourage everyone to share, just give VaCAP credit please.

Once again, membership can be renewed online from our website. We have streamlined the application and provided a direct link for payment.
